It's classic showing the gun, but satisfying all the same.

Plus, who didn't want an eyeful of Stephen Fry? :)C.A. But thanks for including shots of Jude Law for my delectation. And I'm honored to be quoted in your blog, even if it is just as "friend"!Linnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18814440.post-45126587086050447862011-12-30T09:23:06.643-08:002011-12-30T09:23:06.643-08:00"Basically, I was not looking forward to Sher..."Basically, I was not looking forward to Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011, directed by Guy Ritchie). I didn't like the first film at all. I thought it looked like mud and I thought it was a bit too arch, playing to Robert Downey, Jr.'s screen persona rather than to the character. Add to that my absolute delight with the BBC series, Sherlock, and you have a film that is completely superfluous to my interests."

Agree completely. I love the BBC series, it's different and frantic. Looking forward to the new episode on Sunday. The film was a huge disappointment. There was a weird mood to the whole scenery that I cannot pin down. The story was uninteresting as well. I did like the opening sequence, but that's pretty much it.Jadzia626https://www.blogger.com/profile/06346196462949800590noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18814440.post-73851590574251395092011-12-21T08:46:52.397-08:002011-12-21T08:46:52.397-08:00Hi, Laura.

The character bio on IMDB says that Charlotte Rampling once played her, but I haven't seen that version. I'll be interested to see how Sherlock handles her in the upcoming series.Vulnavia Morbiushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04722740955194993451noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18814440.post-1392716554963880252011-12-21T08:40:47.508-08:002011-12-21T08:40:47.508-08:00I. Crap, now I'll have to see it. Like you, I disliked the first movie, but this review and the fact that freakin' Stephen Fry plays freakin' Mycroft Holmes supersedes everything.Laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15532386898201721692noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18814440.post-2400571949419824612011-12-21T08:22:10.997-08:002011-12-21T08:22:10.997-08:00I admit I enjoyed the first one, based entirely on...I admit I enjoyed the first one, based entirely on the treatment of Watson. I'm not really well-versed on Holmes filmography, but from the very few versions I've seen, Law is the best Watson I've seen.

Mainly because, as you wrote, they treat the character with respect, allowing him a place in the show.

Speaking of other Holmesian versions, which is your favourite Irene Adler? I've always wanted to see one Irene Adler film. I think I'll have to make one.J Luis Riverahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00145857465646419255noreply@blogger.com
