Not that it was a good film to begin with, but my girlfriend saw it twice, and she noted that the cinematography was outstanding when seen on a normal projector.

Anyways, what I wanted to say is that you nailed what was Grace Jones about: ferocity. I have never been a fan of her singing nor her acting, but she can do wonders with just being there, displaying her animal ferocity. It's not something related to acting chops, I guess it's more of a "some have it, some don't" thing. Few actors can do that. Bruce Lee is one of them. Christopher Lee would be another.J Luis Riverahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00145857465646419255noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18814440.post-30020459491492374812011-08-25T08:54:53.430-07:002011-08-25T08:54:53.430-07:00Hi, Mykal. I may stick to arthouse releases for the near future, given that my local art house has never shown a movie in 3-D.

Hi, Becky! Conan the Destroyer is interesting if you love cinematographers, because Jack Cardiff is a mighty god among the. Plus, you get Arnold answering the question, "I suppose nothing hurts you?" with, "Only pain." It's in the pantheon of great Arnold quotes.Vulnavia Morbiushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04722740955194993451noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18814440.post-56086556410060705172011-08-25T08:26:26.462-07:002011-08-25T08:26:26.462-07:00Vulnavia: I hope 3D passes quickly into the dustbi...Vulnavia: I hope 3D passes quickly into the dustbin of history, as did the first pass of this hideous technology in the 1950s. Yet, like some flesh-eating ghoul, it has risen again. I think the problem with 3D is that it is one more layer of gimmick in an already gimmicky (read CGI) film-making environment. It offers another shiny object for folks to oooh over.

A good film can only be diminished by this gimmick, which turns everything it touches into a "spectacle" at best. I am reminded of actors in those 1950s films suddenly needing to throw things at the camera just to show off the effect. I haven't seen the new one, either, because I'm not going to pay double to see a 3D movie when I don't even know if I'm going to like it! Thus, I still haven't seen a 3D movie. I'd like to think that if Hollywood were putting out really high-quality movies, they wouldn't have to be in 3D anyway, but maybe I'm just a crank.Lauren Hairstonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18037717621464819611noreply@blogger.com
